Numerous travelers visit Asheville during our busiest season, however mid-week excursions in Western North Carolina can be adventurous, outstanding and experienced on roads less traveled. It’s now winter time in mild Western North Carolina and retirees and vacationers alike can have a wonderful time free of large crowds. Planning your Asheville trip during winter means lower Biltmore tickets, uncrowded restaurants for the foody in you as well as time to unplug and relax before getting into the full swing of 2019. The leaves will not block our gorgeous vistas while traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
North Lodge Bed & Breakfast (circa 1904) will transfer you back to a bygone era all while you enjoy our updated features and Lodge amenities. Located less than 2 miles from the entrance to the Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village and the nearby River Arts District and West Asheville Shops and Dining venues; you will not have time to get bored this winter on your vacation.
WNC Farmers Market: If you are visiting the area it is a fun stop for everyone. The market is conveniently located near downtown Asheville, N.C., and between two major Interstate Highways situated on a thirty-six-acre site with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains, and the Biltmore Estate. The market was first opened in 1977, and is now open all year round, and seven days a week. The public is invited to come and enjoy the atmosphere and character of the mountains. Admission is FREE.
Hiking: Area trails in Western North Carolina are less busy during the week and you can venture out on a clear & sunny day to fully enjoy the experience. Our favorite trail (Triple Falls) is located in DuPont State Forest, which is a 10,473-acre state forest, located in Henderson and Transylvania counties of North Carolina.
Area Wineries: Enjoy more space available at the tasting tables. You will have more opportunity to hear about how the grapes are grown, harvested, and made into wonderful wines. The Biltmore Winery is very close to North Lodge Bed & Breakfast and there are additional wineries that can also be toured like our favorite ~ Burntshirt Vineyards.

Eating Asheville: If you are like us and can be labeled a “foody”, enjoy this tasting tour of local restaurants as you stroll along Biltmore Avenue and our surrounding downtown vibrance while taking in a bit of Asheville history. Area Chefs talk with you about the daily dish they have prepared for their diners.
Breweries: Asheville has been lovingly nicknamed Brew City for a very good reason. Everyone is friendly in the Breweries and you will meet new friends easily as you taste the multitude of flavors in our area brews. One of our favorite breweries is Wicked Weed which is a short Uber from North Lodge Bed & Breakfast. Wicked Weed is also a popular Uber stop allowing guests wait free return to our Bed & Breakfast after they have had an amazing day.
Finally, one of the best reasons to enjoy Asheville in winter is to save money on reduced room rates at North Lodge Bed & Breakfast. Our rates drop Sunday night through Thursday night! You will receive the same great service and delicious breakfasts as our weekend guests.
