There’s always something fun happening here in the Asheville area – even after Hurricane Florence! Speaking of which, it was her bluster that pushed the annual Brewgrass Festival from its original slot on September 15th to the new date October 27th, 2018.

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest 2018 in Mills River NCAir out the lederhosen, iron that dirndl, and prep your stein muscles: Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest 2018 is – Saturday, October 13th, 2018, from 5pm to 10pm at Sierra Nevada Brewing’s Six Row Field in Mills River, NC. Best of all, there will be FREE shuttles from Asheville!

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest is a celebration of German food, music, culture, and more. Every year sees feasting, costumes, dancing, live entertainment, contests, and – of course – plenty of amazing beer.

For this year’s Oktoberfest collaboration festival beer, Sierra Nevada worked with Germany’s Weihenstephan Brewery. Weihenstephan has the distinction of being the world’s first and oldest brewery, so you know this year’s beer is going to be a special one! There will be many other beers on hand, too, long with water, iced tea, and lemonade.

Jam In The Trees is an annual Americana-inspired music festival held just outside of Asheville at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC. The festival has already gained the kind of reputation that draws big artists and audiences alike. Though still young, the festival has already earned a nomination for IBMA’s prestigious Momentum Award.

Asheville’s Shindig On The Green is a summertime tradition of Southern Appalchia style music and dance. The event is spread out over 8 summer Saturday evenings, from June 30th to September 1st. In fact, the only break in the festival series comes between July 28th and August 4th, for the 91st annual Mountain Dance and Folk Festival: August 2 – 4.

Asheville Beer Week 2018Get set for 9 days of beer-related events during Asheville Beer Week 2018! Beer tastings, special releases, beer dinners, beer labs, and much more! May 25th through June 2nd, in and around Asheville, NC.

Craft beer enthusiasts of all stripes will find plenty to love during Asheville Beer Week 2018. The nine-day event includes plenty of opportunities to enjoy delicious beer – but that’s not all.

There will also be unique educational opportunities, film screenings, and special events like the Evening of Experimental Hop IPA’s with acclaimed beer author, Stan Hieronymus.

“Grain to Glass” is the theme for Asheville Beer Week 2018. This year’s festival focus will be local producers and exclusive small batch beers.

More than 30 breweries will be on hand, including Haw River Farmhouse, Founders Brewing, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Brewery Ommegang, and Allagash Brewing.

The 2018 Fed Cup Is Coming To Asheville – Are You?

2018 Fed Cup comes to Asheville, N.C.The U.S. Fed Cup team is coming back to North Carolina for the first time since 2002. The champion U.S. team hosts the Netherlands in Asheville, February 10th and 11th, to defend their title in the 2018 Fed Cup.

The annual Fed Cup is the premier international team competition in women’s tennis. The men’s equivalent tennis competition is the Davis Cup. The Fed Cup was originally called the “Federation Cup” and began in 1963 as a celebration of the International Tennis Federation’s 50th anniversary.

The 2018 Fed Cup comes to Asheville with Team USA having won its record 18th Fed Cup title on November 12, 2017 against Belarus. This is Team USA’s first Fed Cup title since 2000 and a first time against the Netherlands since the 1998 World Group First Round. Team USA holds a 6-2 head-to-head record over the Netherlands in Fed Cup play.
