Asheville Barnaroo 2017The 9th annual Asheville Barnaroo is just around the corner: 3 days of non-stop live music scheduled for September 29th through October 1st, 2017 at Franny’s Farm in Leicester, NC.

If you did a double take when you saw “Barnaroo” that’s because the Asheville Barnaroo is a direct response to the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The Barnaroo was started by a group of friends who were miffed that they couldn’t get into Bonnaroo because they were underage. Like Buddha and the mountain, when they couldn’t go to the music festival, they decided to bring the music festival to them. And so much the luckier for the rest of us!

The 32nd annual Biltmore Blooms Festival of Flowers begins March 18th, 2017 and runs through May 25th. The festival follows and celebrates the blossoming schedule of the estate’s immense and wonderful gardens.

Visitors come to bathe in the gardens as they come to life with hundreds of thousands of bright and beautiful flowers. Biltmore’s gardens produce upwards of 100,000 tulips each spring, not to mention the orchids, daffodils, hyacinths, azaleas, roses and so much more!

The annual New Year’s Day Lake Lure Polar Plunge has become quite the tradition around these parts and why not? What better way to start the New Year than with a dousing in ice-cold lake water?

In fact, it’s become such a tradition that, even when Lake Lure has had its water drawn down, the show goes on! They just move it to the pool at the Lake Lure Inn! Such is the case for this year – but fear not! We’ve seen this before and it actually turned into one of the better Polar Plunges!

Asheville's 20th annual Brewgrass Festival 2016It’s been 20 years since Asheville hosted the first Brewgrass Festival – and it doesn’t look like they plan to stop any time soon. Come celebrate the festival’s 20th anniversary with great music and delicious craft beers. Saturday, September 17th, 2016!

Asheville’s Brewgrass Festival, founded in 1996, is Western North Carolina’s original craft beer festival. A lot has changed since those early days. Not only has the number of microbreweries in the US more than quadrupled since then, Brewgrass has grown, too!

North Carolina is now home to over 100 breweries and brewpubs. No wonder Brewgrass 2016 is set to include over 55 different breweries and cideries! You’ll see – and taste! – a diverse assortment of local, regional, and national craft beers and ciders.

Get Down Downtown at Asheville’s LEAF Downtown 2016!

The 2nd annual LEAF Downtown is almost here! Scheduled for July 30th and 31st, 2016 this year’s theme is “Come Get Down for SoulTown,” with soul, funk, R&B, and world beat music on the menu!

LEAF Downtown AVL is a free, summertime extension of the annual LEAF Festival at Lake Eden, brought to downtown Asheville. LEAF Downtown AVL brings three stages of live music by local, regional, and national musicians.

The three stages will be located at Asheville City Hall, the Buncombe County Courthouse, and one at the Vance Monument on Pack Square. A fourth stage, presenting youth-oriented entertainment, will be on Market Street.
