Bele Chere is the largest free outdoor street festival in the Southeast. The three-day festival encompasses the streets of Downtown Asheville with live, original music all day and night for more than 200,000 festival-goers. Bele Chere means “beautiful living” and indeed, this festival offers the unique opportunity to see, taste and hear why North Carolina and Asheville in particular is one of the greatest places in America. Experience our region’s finest art, cuisine and music at Bele Chere, taking place this year from July 26-28, 2013.
Bele Chere Festival Hours and Locations
Friday: 12 -10 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday: 12 – 6 p.m.
Admission is Free!
The Festival takes place in downtown Asheville, with Pritchard Park as the epicenter of activity and road closures occurring several blocks out in each direction. There are five live music stages, as well as two different food courts and the Arts Park. Since downtown Asheville is less than two miles from our Inn, consider biking to the festival. There will be a bike corral where you can safely and securely store your bike on Patton Ave. between Asheland and Coxe Aves.
If riding isn’t your thing, be prepared: parking will be difficult downtown during the festival.
Arts at Bele Chere
The Arts Park features some of the best artists of Bele Chere. See handmade (and purchase) jewelry, photography, pottery, woodwork, paintings, and metalwork. The Arts Park is located at the corner of Patton Ave. and Church St.
Artists not featured in the Arts Park exhibit throughout the festival grounds. Although artists come from around the country, local exhibitors are encouraged, especially artists from Western North Carolina. Handmade arts and crafts exhibitors include metalwork, fabric, paint, ceramics, woodwork and a variety of other mediums.
