This summer in Asheville, have a farm to table dining experience, mediated through art. Brought to you by American Folk Art and Framing, a Southern Folk Art gallery. Enjoy contemporary pottery and other medias that express the bounty of the season.
Running from June 6 to 26, explore paintings and pottery which pay homage to the joy of growing, preparing and serving this season’s abundant crops. Many of the artists represented by American Folk Art are themselves living lives deeply rooted in agrarian culture. The rituals of planting by the moon, preserving crops, picking flowers, farmers markets and sharing the abundant times with neighbors are often the themes of folk artists work.
The earth’s gifts will be honored in this show which includes potters Chad Cameron Brown, Michael Kline & Kim Ellington; along with painters Lucy Hunnicutt, Liz Sullivan & Darrell Loy Scott, and remarkable jeweler Jane Harrison.
American Folk Art & Framing is located at 64 Biltmore Ave.
