North Carolina is known for its apple crop – it’s the 7th largest in the US – and Henderson County is North Carolina’s largest apple-producing county, home to approximately 200 apple growers who deliver 65 percent of the state’s crop every year. Thus it’s only natural that the North Carolina Apple Festival be held in Hendersonville.
The free, 4-day North Carolina Apple Festival has been held over Labor Day weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolin for 69 years and includes all manner of attractions: car shows, a gem and mineral show, 8K and fun run, bike tour, apple orchard tours, an apple recipe contest, sidewalk sales, an arts and crafts show, pancake breakfasts, a street fair with over 200 vendors, and more!
One of the big draws is all the great, live music the North Carolina Apple Festival provides – take a look at this year’s lineup:
Friday, Sep. 4th
Buddy K Big Band – 7:45pm – 10pm
The popular Buddy K Big Band will energize you with classical standards along with the music of Les Brown, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey.
Saturday, Sep. 5th
Emily Minor – 5pm – 6:30pm
A former American Idol contestant, Emily Minor has been dubbed the “modern Brenda Lee” with vocals that have been likened to those of Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles.
Carolina Soul Band – 7pm – 10pm
Soak up the sweet sounds of the Carolina Soul Band as they take through the musical history of Motown, Beach, and Soul, evoking such legendary groups as The Drifters, The Coasters, The Four Tops, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and many more.
Sunday, Sep. 6th
Jim Quick and Coastline – 7pm – 10pm
Recipient of The Carolina Music Awards’ “Entertainer Of The Year” more often than any other performer, Jim Quick and the Coastline thrill audiences with an undeniable stage presence, a soulful rock sound, and the hard-hitting vocals of the 60s.
TOO MUCH SYLVIA – 5pm – 6:30pm
A genre-crossing, good time band that thrives on audience interaction, TOO MUCH SYLVIA doesn’t use a set list, preferring to “feel the mood” of the show and shape the show for optimum build and excitement.
