Mission Hospital is the regional referral center for Western North Carolina and the adjoining region and is accredited by The Joint Commission, not-for-profit, independent community hospital system based in Asheville. Mission Hospital was formed when St. Joseph’s Hospital and Memorial Mission Medical Center started an organizational partnership in 1996. This partnership was followed by a full merger on October 27, 1998, when St. Joseph’s Hospital was purchased from the Sisters of Mercy by Memorial Mission Medical Center. Today these hospitals are part of the Mission Health System.
Mission’s main hospital is located on two adjoining campuses—Memorial and St. Joseph. Memorial Campus is a 27-acre site located on the west side of the Mission Hospital campus. St. Joseph Campus is a 14-acre site located on the east side of the Mission Hospital campus.

The Women’s Health Center offers state of the art labor and delivery, mother-baby and women’s surgery units that offer the most recent advances in reproductive technology.
Mission’s Wound Therapy Center is the most comprehensive wound facility in western North Carolina, serving patients suffering from burns, wounds, injuries or infections that will not heal. Our staff includes a certified pedorthist, medical director, physical therapist certified in manual lymph drainage therapy, physician assistant and registered nurses. Our services include wound care, enterostomal therapy, manual lymph drainage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and a foot care clinic.
